This is the result after a national security review was completed. you can still use the app and make content for it, but Canada has told TT to shutter all operations in Canada, so their BC and ON offices are closing. whether you use them or not as a social media resource is a personal decision but ask you think about your use now that your government has declared them a risk.

I don't really know, looks more political than anything to do with security. If it was a security concern, it would have been blocked/deleted from the app stores.

Saw that news too — kind of wild. I’ve been messing around with TikTok for a bit, and tried one tool that gave free tiktok likes just to see what would happen. Honestly, it gave a nice boost without much effort.
